Focus on Families—An Introduction
This document outlines the criteria for agencies who are wanting to refer clients and families into the Focus on Families project.
Focus on Families is a new and exciting three-year project, funded by the BIG Lottery's Reaching Communities programme, which aims to support people living in the Knowle West/Filwood area by providing the following services for free:
General counselling for individuals and families
Drama-based and Play Therapy
Parenting workshops
Workshops on stress, anger management and depression
Support network for parents
The project is hosted and co-ordinated by the Knowle West Health Park CI Company (KWHPCIC), but is a partnership between Barnardo's, Womankind, Butterfly and other experienced, qualified practitioners.
All of the services are intended for people who are suffering from mild to moderate mental health issues, including the effects of violence, abuse, bereavement, isolation and other traumatic events. Families who are struggling to cope, or who are in conflict, will also be offered support. All services are confidential.
Please note that clients with complex mental health needs cannot be seen by this service and must be referred to the appropriate mental health service (e.g. Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service or Community Mental Health team).
Please complete the Referral Form and return it to me if you would like to refer clients into this project, or contact me if you would like additional information on any of the services described within this document.
